Per una bibliografia ragionata degli ultimi studi sull’Arcadia (1991-2015)

Il contributo intende dare conto della bibliografia sull’Arcadia uscita negli ultimi venticinque anni. Si individuano in particolare alcune linee di ricerca che sono state particolarmente frequentate dagli studiosi: la storia dell’istituzione romana, quella delle colonie, le indagini sulle caratteristiche precipue della produzione arcadica, nella quale la critica ha in generale sottolineato la preminenza del petrarchismo; fra i generi letterari, le opere teatrali risultano aver suscitato un notevole interesse. Forse la linea di ricerca più attiva e internazionale è tuttavia da identificarsi in quella che ha per oggetto lo studio del ruolo delle donne in Arcadia. Per finire, alcuni contributi hanno trattato in specifico dei rapporti tra alcuni autori e l’Accademia.

An Annotated Bibliography of the Latest Studies on the Arcadia (1991-2015)

This paper intends to provide an exhaustive overview of the bibliography dealing with the Arcadia produced over the last twenty-five years. Moreover, it also identifies some lines of research that have been particularly frequented by scholars: the history of the Roman Academy and of the colonies founded in other Italian cities, the investigation of the specific characteristics of Arcadian production, in which criticism has generally emphasized the primacy of the imitations of Petrarch; among the literary genres, plays appear to have generated considerable interest. Perhaps the most active and international line of research, however, is that addressing study of the role of women in the Arcadia. Finally, several contributions have specifically explored the relationships between certain writers and the Academy.
