«Il più accorto et savio et prudente huomo». Schede per un profilo biografico di Flaminio Tomarozzo

Ricordato per la sua menzione nel Galateo e per l’appartenenza alla cerchia bembiana, Flaminio Tomarozzo (inizio XVI sec. – maggio 1546) non è stato finora oggetto di uno studio specifico. Attingendo a documentazione in gran parte inedita, l’articolo si propone di tracciarne un primo profilo biografico, dall’incontro con il letterato veneziano, già amico del padre Giulio, fino agli anni in cui lo servì nelle vesti di fidato segretario personale. Particolare attenzione è dedicata all’epistolario bembiano e ai carteggi dei suoi corrispondenti, nel tentativo di situare Tomarozzo nella vasta rete di relazioni personali e intellettuali che gravitavano attorno al suo padrone. I risultati ottenuti permettono inoltre di approfondire l’articolazione della familia del Bembo, chiarendo i meccanismi di accesso nonché la ripartizione degli incarichi fra i suoi diversi componenti.

«Il più accorto et savio et prudente huomo». Records for a Biographical Profile of Flaminio Tomarozzo

Flaminio Tomarozzo (early 16th century – May 1546), although remembered for his mention in the Galateo and as a member of Bembo’s circle, has not to date been the subject of a specific study. This article draws on largely unpublished material to sketch an initial biographical profile. It begins with his meeting with the Venetian intellectual, who had already been a friend of his father Giulio, continuing to the years in which he served as Bembo’s trusted personal secretary. Particular attention is paid to Bembo’s epistolary and the letters of his correspondents in the attempt to place Tomarozzo within the vast network of personal and intellectual relations gravitating around his master. The results of the research also yield insight into the ramifications of Bembo’s familia, clarifying the mechanisms for access and the allocation of duties among the various members.
